For the Rotary Club of Portmore, the holiday season is about much more than festivities, it is a time for hands-on compassion. Every December, usually during the bustling weekend right before Christmas Day, our club embarks on its highly anticipated Annual Christmas Care Package Initiative. This staple project is dedicated to bringing essential relief and holiday cheer directly to families who need it most in our local communities.

True to the spirit of Rotary International, this massive undertaking is a triumph of collaboration. Each year, our dedicated club members pull together resources and volunteer hours. However, the true strength of this initiative lies in our partnerships with incredible organizations like Food For The Poor Jamaica, whose generous donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries supercharge our distribution efforts.

Together, we turn collective goodwill into tangible hope.

Delivering Hope to Families

The weeks leading up to Christmas see our members transforming spaces into bustling assembly lines—sorting, packing, and wrapping essential care packages.

Each year, up to 100 care packages are carefully prepared and distributed. We focus on filling these bags with everyday necessities that make a real difference, including:

• Essential Non-Perishables: Household staples such as rice, flour, sugar, cooking oil, and tinned fish.

• Vital Toiletries: Personal hygiene items and toiletries to support family health and comfort.

These packages ensure that senior citizens, low-income households, and individuals in need throughout Portmore have the nourishing food and household necessities required to enjoy a dignified, joyful holiday season.
